NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney CCG are committed to the protection, safety and wellbeing of children and adults with care and support needs as a priority. It is the responsibility of all staff to act on any suspicion or evidence of abuse or neglect and report their concerns in the first instance to their line manager, other responsible person or agency.
As a CCG we work in partnership with the Norfolk and Suffolk Safeguarding Children and Adult’s Boards and with statutory and non-statutory organisations to actively promote effective working relationships between different bodies and professional groups in order to address the issue of abuse and harm.
As designated professionals, we offer a strategic professional lead on all aspects of the health contribution to Safeguarding Children and Looked After Children (LAC) across Norfolk and Waveney.
We represent health on the Norfolk Safeguarding Children Board and many of the sub-groups. We are responsible for advising on the performance of all NHS providers on safeguarding issues.
Independent contractors and their employees have key roles to play in the identification of children who may have been abused, those who are at risk of harm and in subsequent intervention and protection; as such, all staff have very clear safeguarding responsibilities.
