Patient Participation Groups

Patient Participation Groups (PPGs) can help bring about real, positive change in their communities. They have an increasingly important role to play in helping to give patients a say in the way services are delivered to best meet their needs, and the needs of the local community.

Patients and patient views are at the heart of the new NHS world of clinically-led commissioning. In the CCG, patients are at the focus of everything we do. We want to know what patients and our public think about the quality of their local health services, that they can influence how they are commissioned, and that people in Great Yarmouth and Waveney have a good understanding of the challenges facing the NHS now and in the future.

Patient participation groups can have a say in how their local practice works and the services that are delivered and through the PPG representative on the PPG forum they are also able to have a say on commissioning decisions by the CCG.

The Chair of the PPG forum sits on the CCG governing body ensuring that the patient voice is heard from local practice level right through to the decision making body.

See our Diagram showing how the CCG engages and involved patients.

What is the purpose of a PPG?

A PPG has to represent a whole practice population, not personal or individual views!
