Autism and Asperger Syndrome
The National Autistic Society explains what Autism and Asperger syndrome are.
You can read real-life stories on NHS Choices including:
Daniel's story - Daniel and his family talk about how his autism has been helped by cycling.
Mikie's story - The main thing about having Asperger’s is about stumbling through life. It’s as if there’s some vital lesson in life that I never learned, that everybody else has. And I’ve spent the rest of my life trying to catch up with it.
Healthcare professionals with an interest in autism may find the Autism Anglia website useful.
You will also find lots of useful information on the Autism Research Centre website.
Norfolk All Age Autism Partnership Board
We want to listen to and involve people with autism in the care and support they receive locally.
NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups in Norfolk and Waveney are part of the Norfolk All Age Autism Partnership Board, alongside people of all ages with autism, their families and carers, colleagues at Norfolk County Council and across the statutory sector, and voluntary, community and advocacy organisations.
The Norfolk Autism Partnership Group provides opportunity and real action for people with autism and involvement of individuals from across the age range and all geographical areas of Norfolk. It provides an update from the Norfolk Autism Partnership Board and an open forum for conversation.
More information about the Partnership Board and Group, including information on upcoming meeting dates and opportunities for getting involved, are available here.
